In 2025, many LS authors make outstanding contributions to our journal. Their articles published with us have received very well feedback in the field and stimulate a lot of discussions and new insights among the peers.
Hereby, we would like to highlight some of our outstanding authors who have been making immense efforts in their research fields, with a brief interview of their unique perspective and insightful view as authors.

Alexey Karpov

Dr. Alexey Karpov, with 15 years of medical experience, holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree and serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, under the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation. As a Senior Researcher, he excels in a wide range of elective and emergency surgical interventions, specializing in general and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, oncology, and advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. Actively engaged in research and education, he has authored over 100 scientific articles, three methodological recommendations, and holds 12 invention patents. Additionally, he is an official reviewer for the International Journal of Surgery, contributing significantly to the medical field. Get to know more about him here.
In Dr. Karpov’s view, an effective author requires hard work, perseverance, and strong teamwork skills, as scientific work relies on collaboration within a clinic team. To avoid biases, authors must strive for objectivity by presenting open, honest, and evidence-based scientific data.
“My primary motivation to engage in academic writing is the desire to showcase the center's current capabilities to the world. If I could devote more time to this, I'd happily write articles every day,” says Dr. Karpov.
